Good morning all,

My name is Marcus Woods and I would like to welcome everyone to the 2026 Quarry Gators summer swim season. Abigail Yeazell and I will be your Stroke and Turn Judge coordinators for the team this season.

Stroke and Turn judge is a great way to support the team, get a greater understanding of all the swim strokes, and get a Birds Eye view of the team swim.

This is a certified position that only requires watching a 90 minute video on the Louisville Swim Association website in order to be certified. A link to the video is attached to this email. And after watching the video, just let Abigail or myself know so that we can get your information to the league. It is as simple as that.

The majority of teams typically utilize 2 judges for the entirety of the meet but our team tries to get 3-4 judges per meet so that you are not on your feet for an entire 3-4 hour shift. We can take breaks and get reprieve from the heat.

Our team has a mock meet June 2 which is a low-pressure, training opportunity for gaining experience and we encourage shadowing at the real meets to gain a better grasp of evaluating all the strokes. We have some very experienced judges who are extremely helpful.

We will be at the parent meeting tomorrow in order to answer any questions or concerns that you may have about strike and turn judges.
