    Hello QG Families,

This email contains a lot of very important information. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE THING AND DON'T DELETE IT!

    LQG v. LAKE FOREST RESULTS
Results from last night's meet are attached in PDF format.

    TODAY IS CLARK BURCKLE DAY
Today, during each practice, 2012 Olympian and former Quarry Gators Clark Burckle will be conducting expert clinics with each lane on the finer points of starts, underwaters, and breaststroke and butterfly. We cannot overstate how fantastic (and unheard-of!) an opportunity this is at this level of swimming. Clark is a world-class swimmer and clinician who graciously offers his time and expertise to our program free of charge! You will NOT want to miss practice today!

RSVP FOR QUALS/CHAMPS BY TOMORROW @ NOON
You have until 12:00 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, July 1 to RSVP for the qualification AND championship meets. Here's what you need to know about how they work, directly from our Team Handbook:

    QUALIFICATION MEETS

    • Two qualification meets, separated by age group, will serve as a preliminary competition prior to the championships. Entry in these meets is allowed if division time standards are met in a prior dual or mock meet
    • Monday, July 6: 11+ Qualifications @ Lake Forest
    • Wednesday, July 8: 10U Qualifications @ Springhurst
    • 6.1.1 - Qualifying Times - The time standards identified in Appendix D must be obtained, either in practice meets or dual meets, by a swimmer during the course of the season in order to enter the event in qualifications.
      • 6.1.2.1 - The 100m freestyle is not counted as one of the 3 events for non-USA long course swimmers, but it is counted for USA long course swimmers.
    • 6.1.4 - A swimmer must compete in two dual meets to be eligible to compete in the qualification meet.

    CHAMPIONSHIP MEET

    • All eligible teams and swimmers in LSA Division III will participate in LSA Division III Championships:
    • Sunday, July 12 – LSA Div. II Champs @ Owl Creek
      • 7:00 a.m. warmup, 8:00 a.m. start
    • The top 12 finishers in any event from the qualification meet will be seeded in the championship meet. A championship heat will be seeded for finishers in 1st-8th place only, and a consolation heat will be seeded for finishers in 7th-12th. This means that 7th place and below can place no higher than 7th place, and 6th place and above can place no lower than 6th place, regardless of their time.
    • 7.1.3 - Two alternate swimmers for each event shall be invited to championships and be

eligible to compete should a qualifier be unavailable or otherwise unable to compete.

    • 7.1.6 - A swimmer must compete in the qualification meet and be a qualified or alternate swimmer in order to be eligible to compete in individual events in the championships.
      • This is not required for relay entries-- any team member shall be eligible to participate.
      • In the interest of bringing as many eligible swimmers on our team as possible to the championship meet, some swimmers may be invited to participate as alternates or relay-only swimmers.
    • 7.1.7 - No swimmer may swim up in individual events.
    • 7.1.9 - There is no qualification required for the all-age relay event. Each team will enter one team into this event as the championship meet.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY SWIMMER IS ELIGIBLE?
All times from all meets are uploaded to Swimtopia. You will be allowed to RSVP for the qualifciation meet if you have met the above criteria. If you feel your swimmer IS elligible, but the system doesn't allow you to register, please contact us ASAP and we'll figure out how to correct the situation.

WHAT IF WE DON'T HAVE TIMES?
Due to the size of our team and the entry restrictions for dual meets, It's possible that your swimmer did not get a chance to post a time in an event they qualify for. The good news is... They don't have to post the time in a meet, we can get it at practice! Read on...

    TIME TRIALS ALL DAY TOMORROW!!!
Tomorrow, all day long, during each practice, we'll be conducting time trials to get times for ANY SWIMMER in ANY EVENT. We have a list of who we know we need times from, but you are absolutely welcome to request that we get times for your swimmer for a particular event to ensure they can participate in quals.

WHAT IF WE CAN'T MAKE IT TOMORROW?
If you think your swimmer can post a qualifying time in an event they have not swum in a dual meet, but they CANNOT attend practice tomorrow, please contact Coach William by email ASAP so arrangements can be made to time your swimmer.
